Weekly Woofs 7: The Border Collie Diaries

Hope everyone had a great week!

I had a lovely Valentine date with Mum and Dad after work on Wednesday. How good were those heart shaped treats! Mmmm!

This weekend has been a busy time again, Mum nagged me to do my blog this morning instead of watching Disney Films! I did manage to watch Zootropolis this morning first though! Have any of you seen it?

Yesterday we went for a run in the morning, first one for a while as Mum's leg has been problematic. Anyway, it was a good run, a bit slow for my liking, but a good run out. On the way, you'll never guess! We bumped into John and Luke out for a long run with their Mum. We had a little catch up, I'll see them Monday anyway for a proper chase out.

We headed to off to Epsom to see our friend and neighbour Simon who has moved recently to live nearer his son. He now lives in great place where he has lots of new friends a restaurant and lots of things to do. We were heading out for lunch, my lunch was in the rucksack - I saw Mum put it in there! Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told Simon was ill with a bug and we couldn't catch up with him. It was a real shame as I was allowed in his his new home and I was so excited to see him! We had our lunch without him and went back home. Mum said we'd have to arrange another visit when he was better. Poor Simon!

Back to the task in hand, last weeks walks! Monday morning was a glorious day, the Boss told us we could have a good walk and play some ball in the sunshine. We headed off to Marlow and parked up near the Rugby Club. Well what a shock we had! The river was very high flooding everything around us, no big walk for us down there!

The Boss said we'd have to do some training work and play ball today as by the time we'd jumped back in the van and driven up to the woods we'd have run out of time! We walked all round the playing fields once, then we had a treat finding game, then the balls came out! Three balls today, so loads of running, chasing and racing each other to get there first! What fun! When we finished, we were having some water by the bench and a car pulled up! It was John and Luke with their Dad! We had a mad 5 minutes of catch up and chase but then we had to jump in the van and head off home.

Tuesday morning started with a walk with Jasper joining the mid morning walk, he was on perfect form for some serious chasing with me and Stan - he got it! We were all pretty out of breath afterwards. Jasper said it was a good chase!

Rio was also with us, no Poppy as she was doing stuff with her Mum. As it was half term this week, everywhere was pretty quiet, plus everywhere we went was really very wet.

Tuesday afternoon, it was our normal crew of Tess and Otto and Murphy. This time we headed down to do the big Dorney Loop, it's a great walk for a Tuesday afternoon. Oh boy it was muddy! Everywhere we walked the river was high and there was mud up over our paws. The Boss had to wear her wellies.

Despite the mud we had a great time. Tess and Murphy did their normal rolling in poo! I'm not sure why Tess thinks I'd want to cuddle her when she stinks! Murphy heade off through the barbed wire fence to find his rollie stuff, the daft boy cut his head on the barbed wire trying to get back through! He really is a silly one at times!

Otto spent all his time getting cuddles from the Boss. He was quite quiet most of the walk, he joined in a couple of chases. I was also quite quiet. I was covered in mud, wet through and cold but I had to keep working! I wished I'd put my coat on in the morning!

I went for an early night!

Wednesday, after we'd been out for a good run with John and Luke we picked up Nethy, and as Sparky was missing we took Stan and Seamus on an earlier walk for slightly longer. Seamus was not his normal self, so the Boss let his Dad know and he went off to the Vets on Thursday. He's OK thankfully just a bit of a temperature and feeling down. He called in sick on Thursday.

Thursday early morning I went down the river with the Pointers and Vizsla (Jasper, John and Luke). Everyone was up for some serious chase games with sticks in our mouths. Luke still gets a bit worried when us big boys play a three chase game through the woods!

Later on we went to Braywick, the car park was pretty empty which is unheard of in the week. Turned out to be a very quiet, unremarkable walk with Poppy and Rio. I think that was probably because Poppy's chase mate Seamus was missing.

Last walk Thursday was up at the Thicket, we bumped into George and we stopped to chat to a lady who really liked Collies. She took a big shine to Stan! Thought he was gorgeous.

I had a great sleep Thursday woke up Friday morning feeling very chirpy so I got my tug out after breakfast. No one would play with me, so I had a good shake session on my own. Felt good afterwards! That's the way it rocks sometimes!

Friday is always Collie morning as you know. This time we headed off to Farm Wood for a big explore. We always park at the bottom car park and walk up the hill to the woods. It was very slippery today for dogs as well. At the top first of all we have to head to the poo bin, for obvious reasons. Once that is done we always ask the Boss if we can play ball in the little field next to the bin. We did today! There is a bridleway that runs past the clearing where we play. Today there were horses doing galloping past us. We were told to ignore them if we wanted to play ball. So we did, Stan was not at all bothered by them either. Obviously we did all have a little look as they were running fast!

After an hour of exploring round the woods we headed back down for a second ball session in the playing fields next to the car park. That was a good session!

This is us afterwards, in the field, having our water before heading home.

Have a great weekend everyone, I'm off out soon for my big Sunday walk now it's stopped raining again!

Have a great weekend and don't forget to follow us!

Love Zac x
